Theron M. Peacock, P.E. (retired)

Theron co-founded Woods • Peacock Engineering Consultants in 1999 after 14 years with FDE Ltd., Consulting Engineers in Alexandria, VA and 8 years practicing in Ohio.  Theron has a depth of experience in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry load-bearing structures, extensive field experience in the observation of construction ranging from new construction and major repair and renovation projects and historical projects to field investigations of collapsed structures.  He has been involved in hundreds of projects in the United States as well as worldwide.

Theron was the Principal-In-Charge, Prime Contract Manager & Senior Structural Engineer for a Woods • Peacock lead NAVFAC Washington Civil /Structural IDQ contract, winning a 2010 Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington Merit Award for the task order to replace the Dive Tower at Lejeune Hall, U.S. Naval Academy.  Theron was on the design team which won the 2005 D.C. Mayor’s AIA Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation for the Cleveland Elementary School Renovation and Addition.  He was awarded the E. Boyd Graves Award for Excellence in Historic Restoration for the “faithful reconstruction of the Shepherd House” in Fredericksburg, VA.  Theron was also the lead structural engineer for the roof renovation project for the historically significant Old Executive Office Building that won an ACI Award of Excellence and an ACEC/MW Engineering Excellence award.

Theron is a member of ASCE, SAME, ACEC, AISC, ACI, and ASIS and was a member of the Building Security Council where he participated on the Building Evaluation Committee.

In his community, Theron was a board member for the Stafford County School Board for 10 years and was instrumental in guiding the school board and school administration through the renovation, rehabilitation and conversion of a number of schools in the district.

Theron earned his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from The Pennsylvania State University, with a specialization in structural engineering. (back to top)

 

 

John O. Woods, Jr., P.E. (retired)

John co-founded Woods • Peacock Engineering Consultants in 1999 after 29 years with FDE, Ltd., Consulting Engineers in Alexandria, VA.  During his 40 plus years of experience John has designed or been responsible for hundreds of significant structures, and has consulted on hundreds more, primarily in the Washington, DC area, but also worldwide.  Since 1983, he has visited more than 40 countries consulting on projects for the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Building Operations, and tenant organizations.

Active in professional societies, he has served as president of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Metropolitan Washington, and numerous committees and task forces of ACEC national and the Coalition of American Structural Engineers. He is also a mediator and a large complex case commercial (construction) panel member of the American Arbitration Association.

John was honored by his professional peers with the 2013 Structural Engineers Association of Metropolitan Washington’s Outstanding Achievement Award, and was inducted into ACEC-MW’s Class of 2013 College of Fellows.

As a disabled Viet Nam Veteran, John has previously served on both the Governor’s Council and the Alexandria Commission for the Disabled and completed his Presidential appointment in 2008 as a Public member of the U.S. Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Access Board.  He is currently the treasurer and a director of the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial Fund, has served as the chairman of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Alexandria Rotary Club. He is an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

He has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Citadel, and a M.S. from Duke University. (back to top)
