HTHW Generator Plant – IAD

Generator Replacements, Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) – Chantilly, VA

Located within the Utility Plant at IAD, the existing high temperature hot water (HTHW) generators required replacement.  Design and construction phasing documents were prepared, enabling demolition and replacement of the operations.

Existing building drawings, including subsequent modifications and additions, were reviewed and evaluations were performed on both structured slabs and slabs-on-grade for the heavy generator loading.  In-depth studies of equipment locations and installation pathways were performed.  It was determined that structural modifications were required to facilitate the construction and installation processes, including the removal of an existing column and the installation of two new columns to create an unobstructed path.
