U.S. Embassy Rome – Mel Sembler Building Renovation and Embassy Perimeter Upgrades – Rome, Italy
Multiple projects at this historical U.S. Embassy site included perimeter and site security improvements and the renovation of the recently acquired Sembler Building.
The structural work for the Sembler Building included the design and detailing of:
• Interior and exterior egress and ADA modifications
• Mechanical areaways
• Security improvements to the inside and outside of the building
The perimeter and site security improvements around the existing Embassy compound, including the Sembler Building, incorporated anti-climb and anti-ram fences, walls, and barriers as well as the following:
• Compound access control (CAC) buildings with sally ports
• Service building / truck transfer station
• Guard booths
➢ Estimated construction cost for the Sembler renovation project: $14.5 million
➢ Estimated construction cost for the perimeter upgrade project: $17 million
