Position:
- Part-Time Structural Intern
Location:
- Alexandria, VA
- In Office
Responsibilities:
- Assist with analysis and design of structural systems for all types of building materials using various building codes and standards (i.e. IBC, IEBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, UFC)
- Prepare structural calculations
- Participate in field surveys and document existing conditions
- Collaborate with internal designers and engineers
- Review existing building structural systems
- Prepare drawings using Revit and AutoCAD
- Assist in preparation of technical reports
- Review construction shop drawings and submittals
Required Qualifications:
- Able to work freely in the US now and in the future without sponsorship
- Degree Requirements:
- Enrollment in an ABET accredited university program for Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Bachelor of Architectural Engineering (BAE), or Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering (BSAE), or equivalent, with coursework specialized towards structural engineering
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good organizational, time-management, and team skills
- Willingness to be challenged and develop new skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
- Software Experience: AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, RAM Elements, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, MathCAD
